Kick-Off Event and Community Workshop Series
The initial phase of public engagement provided residents and stakeholders an opportunity to learn about the current state of Rutherford County and provide input to shape a vision for the county's future. A kick-off event was held on March 1, 2022 at Lane Agri-Park Community Center and was followed by a series of open houses across the county.

Town Hall Event at MTSU
The second phase of public engagement allowed residents and stakeholders to review input received during the first phase. Through community workshops, participants had the opportunity to validate what was heard and provide feedback on emerging themes and key takeaways.
On August 22, 2023, Rutherford County leadership hosted a town hall event at MTSU's School of Concrete and Construction Management as part of the ongoing PlanRutherford initiative to update the county's comprehensive plan. Brooks Lamb, author of "Love for the Land: Lessons from Farmers Who Persist in Place," gave the keynote which was followed by a panel discussion with key business and community leaders

Scenario Planning - Community Workshop Series
Scenario planning workshops were held across the county in October 2023. These meetings provided information on how current growth trends will impact quality of life and then provided an opportunity for attendees to be "planner for the day" by identifying where and how they thought the the county should grow.

Scenarios Map Handbook
Participants completed this map book to communicate their vision for how areas of the county should be preserved or developed in the future.
Joint Work Session at MTSU
On July 11, 2024 a Joint Work Session was held at MTSU's School of Concrete and Construction Management with the Board of County Commissioners, Planning Commissioners, and the PlanRutherford Steering Committee to review the initial draft of the plan recommendations.
